In Conversation with... Ergyul Ismet, Head of Housekeeping
Step behind the scenes with Ergyul, our Head of Housekeeping, as she shares more about the bespoke services her team offers.
Q: What goes into maintaining the high standards of housekeeping at Auriens?
It’s really about attention to detail and understanding each resident’s needs. Our team is trained to focus on maintaining a high standard in every task, whether it’s simple dusting, vacuuming, or something more involved like deep-cleaning kitchens and bathrooms. We also handle tasks like changing bed linens, organising wardrobes, and even ironing. By providing all the cleaning materials and equipment ourselves, we try to make things as seamless as possible for residents.
Q: Could you provide more details on the specific housekeeping services available for residents and how they’re arranged?
Absolutely! When a resident first joins, I personally discuss their preferences, from the frequency of cleaning to any specific requests they have. This can range from general cleaning to more specialised services like carpet and upholstery cleaning. We also provide window cleaning, waste collection, annual deep cleaning for upholstery, and even services like showerhead maintenance are available. Everything is scheduled to fit the resident’s routine and can be added to their monthly bill for convenience.
Q: Auriens offers a competitive laundry service. What sets it apart from other options?
We regularly run price comparisons with other high-quality, local laundry services to ensure our prices remain competitive. In fact, when we last compared prices a few months ago, we found that we are, on average, 18% cheaper than other options in the area. More importantly, the quality of our service is exceptional. Whether it’s everyday items like shirts or delicate pieces such as cashmere sweaters and evening gowns, we manage everything from wash and press to dry cleaning and even alterations.
We’re also excited to be launching our laundry services to Friends of Auriens, giving them the chance to experience our quality care.
Q: You've recently converted two long-term residents from using their own housekeepers to Auriens' services. What do you think helped with that?
It was a real achievement! These residents had been using the same housekeepers for over 30 years, so getting them to switch was no small task. I think the key was consistency and building trust. Once they saw that our services matched, if not exceeded, what they were used to, they felt confident in making the change.
Q: Can you tell us about the recent residents' laundry visit you organised?
We recently had a very successful event where residents were invited to visit the laundry facilities in the basement. For many, it was their first time seeing the back-of-house areas, and they were impressed by the quality of equipment we have on-site. It gave them a deeper appreciation for the service we offer and helped build trust, which is important in a place like Auriens where we focus on personal, high-quality care.
Q: How does your team contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents?
Our team is in daily contact with residents, whether it's through laundry services, cleaning appointments, or simply collecting rubbish. For families, it's reassuring to know that somebody from our team checks on their loved one every day, even if they do not leave their apartment. We’re not just here to clean; we’re here to build relationships, understand personal preferences, and ensure that everyone feels cared for.
